Chaos is a storm
Swelling all around us. Chaos is a baby’s cry The kind of colours you cannot trust. Stares filled with meaning Chaos is lust Chaos is a killer’s mind Demanding that “I must”. Chaos is beginners’ love A seed that starts to grow Chaos is life from above Starting from below. |
Chaos is a traffic rush
The kind of things that aren’t enough. Chaos is a snow white dove Silenced by a pitch black glove. Chaos is the glowing eyes Burning into us. Chaos is a silence shattered Chaos is life. Chaos… Is us… |
Shades of the Sun
- Nqobile Gumede
The wind blows as he begins his sacred voyage.
Brown is the new colour of his shoes.
Thankful is he for being a well fed child.
Surrounding him is a broken community.
A community that breeds poverty.
It is naked.
Stripped of its country beauty.
T'was stripped not by the white man
But by the tribes it nurtures
The titihoya's song
Is no longer heard,
But a lost memory.
He stares at the view before him.
In the sky the beautiful sun slowly sets
And his heart is at ease.
The shades of the Sun
Bring light and warmth
In his dark world
The horizon separates two worlds
Above his dream world
And below, the world of reality.
The shades of the sun
Speak in colours
He is now under their spell.
He stares at the heart melting sunset
And his young soul is at ease.
All his troubles are forgotten
He is in heaven.
His happiness is short lived
The Sun has set
And his worries and troubles are back
His mother stands before him, intoxicated
And enraged
Pulling his little ear back home
He smiles to himself
Tomorrow the Sun shall set again.
