.- M.J. Piano player, hockey captain, athlete and academic and chocolate fanatic. An impossible combination of sport, culture and academia that would render any normal human useless after a week of this strenuous programme. Thank goodness Emma Prinsloo is not any normal human. Emma Prinsloo, eldest sibling of three, was born on the 24th of May 2001 in our local Hibiscus Hospital. Her fame started at the young age of 7 when she started playing hockey in grade 1 at her primary school Izotsha. She quickly gained skill in this sport and has since then been in most of the hockey UGU teams, been to KZN hockey trials and has recently gained the position of under 15 hockey captain.
When in grade four she started playing piano and competing in athletics. She had a natural flair for athletics and won victress ladorum for the rest of her primary school career. On completing primary school she continued the sport on a high school level where she has recently gained half colours. On the piano front she has taken part in six eisteddfods and has achieved a merit for piano. Emma has always been academically strong and has consistently achieved high marks throughout her life, coming first in her class for grade six and second in the grade for grade eight. It is clear that Emma has achieved remarkable feats so far and I’m sure we can expect more to come. But I think her most impressive achievement, better than all her piano tunes and hockey plays, is that she is (and I know our English teachers will kill me for using this word) a nice person. She is fun to be around, is kind (when she isn’t being sarcastic), supportive and ultimately one of the best people I know. She is a person I strive to be like.
