- Tauriel This week’s student of the week is Olwethu Mkhwanazi in grade 12. She has become a recognizable learner at Sheppie High for many reasons. She has a loving and respectful nature when dealing with students and staff. Olwethu is a 7 time UGU Coastal Hockey player and made the KZN team last year. Apart from hockey she has played soccer and participated in athletics at school. Olly (as her fellow students call her) is also a dancer. From the young age of six she began dancing, starting with ballet and finally finding her love in Ballroom and Latin dancing. Last summer, Olly had the opportunity to travel to Latvia and represent South Africa on the world stage in ballroom dancing in December, last year. The highlights of her journey were the diverse cultures she experienced in Europe and how different life is from here. She has taken a break from dancing this year to focus on her Matric studies. But watch this space…
Over the years we have seen Olwethu being shaped and formed into the confident, disciplined and talented lady she is today. Sheppie High is proud to have people like her representing our school. Olly still has KZN hockey trials to attend this year and we wish her the best on her journey in sports, dancing and the future.
